Fellaini set to sign new Manchester United contract

Marouane Fellaini is set to sign a new two-year deal at Manchester United.

The Belgian’s future has been up in the air in recent months after he rejected a new deal at Old Trafford just before Christmas.

PSG were one of a number of club’s who took note of Fellaini’s decision, with the Ligue 1 champions reportedly ready to take the 30-year-old midfielder to France as a free agent after the World Cup.

However, Fellaini now appears to have put an end to speculation over his future, with the Manchester Evening News reporting that Fellaini has agreed to sign a contract extension with United, which will keep him at the club until 2020.

Jose Mourinho is understood to be a big admirer of the Belgium international, and previously spoke to his desire to keep him at Old Trafford come the end of the season.

“I want him to stay, the club wants him to stay, I think he will stay, it is nearly there.” said the United boss following Fellaini’s last gasp winner in the 2-1 victory over Arsenal back in April.

While the club or Fellaini are yet to make an official announcement, the former Everton midfielder says fans can expect to find out where his future lies at the end of the month.

Addressing his future this week, Fellaini said: “I am not worried about my contract running out, I am used to it.

“I am strong enough mentally to deal with it.

“Soon I will say where I will be playing next season. On July 1.”
