Fabrizio Romano Predicts Whether United Will Make A Move For Dayot Upamecano

Manchester United are not expected to make a move for RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano before the end of the transfer window, according to the Guardian‘s Fabrizio Romano.

Reports in England have suggested that the Red Devils were lining up a £60m offer for the Frenchman but speaking on Twitter this afternoon, Romano poured cold water on those claims, saying Leipzig won’t be looking to sell the defender:

United’s rivals Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool have been mentioned as being interested in Upamecano over the past few months, and the player himself has come out in recent days to confirm he has held conversations with other teams:

“It’s true that I’m in great demand. I speak with clubs, but I’m in no rush and we’ll see what happens in the future.”

Even so, the 21-year-old only signed a new contract at the end of July, keeping him at Leipzig until 2023. There is, however, believed to be a new release clause which would allow him to leave if a club offers €42m (£37m) for him next summer.
