EXIT: Which United Stars Could Leave?

EXIT: Which United Stars Could Leave?

Louis van Gaal is set for yet another clear out this summer. As many as 10+ players could leave the club if the right offer is made.

The Dutchman hasn’t shied away from allowing players to leave before, with more than 15 members of the squad leaving in the last 2 transfer windows. Former stars such as Anderson, Fletcher, Welbeck and Kagawa were all shown the door by LvG.

However, it seems there is still much more to be done this summer. A further list of players deemed surplus to requirements are set to be allowed to leave.

Jonny Evans – Evans is a player who has spent his entire career as a bit part player for United. Although he’s the most senior centre back United have, it seems his time is up. His latest ban spanning 7 games is sure to have given further reason for LvG to show him the door.

Rafael – The Brazilian has been at United since the age of 18. He’s been the first choice right back ever since Gary Neville’s departure, however it is safe to say he never really cemented his position. Although he’s still young, it looks as if Rafael’s time is up. LvG has preferred Antonio Valencia to the role, even though he is not naturally defensive minded.

Robin van Persie – Back in 2012, Van Persie was one of United’s most exciting transfers. The £24m Arsenal man arrived in style, finishing his debut season as a Premier League champion and top scorer. Since then, it’s not gone to plan as much as the Dutchman would’ve liked. Injuries and his lacklustre performances have been pinned down to his age, and even with the arrival of Louis van Gaal, a man RVP knows well, he still hasn’t played the role in the side he’d have liked. The 31 year old has been linked with a move to Italy. Juventus and Inter Milan are the sides mentioned.

Javier Hernandez – The Mexican was a brilliant acquisition by Sir Alex Ferguson. At just £6 million, Chicarito hugely impressed in his debut season scoring over 20 goals. The player went through a tough time in his second season, however he still played a big part in the side, despite being in competition with 3 other top strikers. It’s clear LvG has no plans for the Mexican. He was loaned out to Real Madrid in no time, where he has again failed to make an impact on the side. Where Hernandez’s future lies is unclear, many think he still has a place at United. Should RVP & Falcao leave, it would certainly be an option.

Nani – The Portuguese winger has spent the past season on loan at Sporting Lisbon. It’s said that the move will be made permanent. However, are United willing to allow the man once considered the brightest prospect in Portugal to go without a fight? Consistency has always been Nani’s problem. A run of incredible games usually follow a run of poor performances which leave fans hugely frustrated. United could do with a winger in the side, whether that means bringing in a new recruit altogether or recalling Nani remains to be seen.

Tom Cleverley – Once dubbed the next Paul Scholes, it really hasn’t gone all that well since for the Englishman. With his contract expiring in the summer and no indication of a renewal, it looks as if Cleverley’s time is up. He’s spent the season out on loan to Aston Villa, which is likely to be his permanent destination. Everton and Spurs are also said to be interested.

Ben Amos / Anders Lindegaard – Both goalkeepers have never really made an impact at United. LvG’s signing of Victor Valdes has further put their futures in doubt, with Ben Amos admitting he will leave at the end of the season. If David De Gea did leave, Lindegaard may still have a spot in the squad, however it’s more than likely that he will follow Amos out.

Radamel Falcao – What a terribly disappointing time Falcao has had at United. The deadline day signing had potential to be one of the best ever. It’s no secret Falcao is up there with the best. Unfortunately, it just has not happened for him. Every fan wanted the Colombian to succeed, but it seems his time is up, and although he was only a loan signing, it doesn’t look as if the move will be made permanent.

Andreas Pererira / Angelo Henriquez – Both of the South American’s could leave United at the end of the season. Andreas Pererira would be a huge loss for the Reds, he’s got bags of potential and is definitely close to breaking into the first team. His contract is up at the end of the season, and is apparently not willing to renew it. Sounds all too similar to the Paul Pogba story.. Angelo Henriquez is apparently on the way to Dinamo Zagreb at the end of the season. The 21 year old was a huge prospect when signed from Chile at the age of 18. However, he hasn’t really been given the chance to prove himself. Another loss for United, perhaps.

All in all, there’s a bunch of players who’s time could be up. It’s just a matter of who, when and where they go!
