“Especially Manchester United And Chelsea…” Journalist Claims PL Rivals Will Battle It Out For 142M Rated Forward

Manchester United and Chelsea are “on the trail” of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, according to journalist Ciro Venerato.

The Italian reporter claims that the Nigerian international may cost as much as €160m (£142m) if either team do make an offer for the player in the summer:

“On the trail of the Nigerian, however, there are various English clubs, especially Manchester United and Chelsea. The novelty concerns the striker’s price tag: if the Blues bought Enzo Fernández for €120m, Osimhen’s price tag can cost as much as €160m and can still grow. In the meantime, Napoli are evaluating the alternatives, namely [Sebastien] Haller from Borussia [Dortmund], [Jonathan] David from Lille and [Youssef] En-Nesyri from Sevilla.”

Osimhen has been in outstanding form this season. He scored his 17th league goal in 18 appearances during the 3-0 win over Cremonese at the weekend, with Napoli closing in on their first Serie A title for 30 years.

Although the Italian side would be keen to keep the 24-year-old, it seems that they may consider selling up if they receive a bid they can’t refuse.

However, the price tag that Venerato states is an astronomical figure and it would be a surprise if United could afford Osimhen without a change in ownership.

Reports suggest a deadline for offers has been set for Friday so we should know more about prospective buyers for the club very soon.
