“Don’t blame him” – United fans react to reports World Cup finalist rejected Old Trafford switch this summer

Manchester United fans are not surprised Juventus striker Mario Manduzkic reportedly rejected the chance to move to Old Trafford this summer.

Jose Mourinho was understood to be keen to land the Croatian intentional earlier in the month to help provide support up-front for Romelu Lukaku up-front.

Mourinho was impressed with Mandzukic’s displays during the World Cup this summer, with the striker being one of Croatia’s star players as they reached the final in Russia, where they were eventually beaten by France.

And the Portuguese was reportedly prepared to hand the 32-year-old a lucrative £85,000-per-week deal in order to help bring him to Old Trafford.

However, according to CalcioMercato ultimately opted to stay at Juventus after holding crunch talks with manager Massimiliano Allegri.

The Italian boss told Manduzkic he was a key part of his plans for the new season following the departure of Gonzalo Higuain, who left for AC Milan on-loan.

With Juventus having signed Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as a number of other high profile signings this summer, the Serie A giants are expected for big things this season, with many tipping them as favourites to lift the Champions League.

United on the other hand endured a turbulent summer, making just three signings, and have made a poor start to the new season having only secured three points from their opening three games.

The United fans are starting to see why Mandzukic turned down the chance to move to Manchester this summer …
