Manchester United are one of seven clubs competing to sign Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Kai Havertz, according to BILD (paywall). The German tabloid claim that Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona are also pursuing the 20-year-old.
The German international is widely seen as one of Europe’s top young talents and it seems every elite European club is interested in signing him. United fans on Twitter, though, are not holding out much hope that he’ll make the switch to Old Trafford:
He is off to Bayern. Do not watch this space

So we have no chance then

Great to hear that, but he is most likely going to Bayern so no point really

We lost before it even started

Well don’t bother then. Pick fights we can win or we’ll end up with nothing but a sore nose again.

In other words we ain’t getting him

There is no doubt that United will have to finish in the Champions League places if they want Havertz in the summer. Money does talk, and the Red Devils do have the financial resources to offer the playmaker a competitive deal, but the other clubs involved in the transfer battle will make it an uphill struggle.
Bayern Munich are likely to be the favourites with the Bundesliga giants generally a big draw for German players. The midfielder has been in decent form this season, having scored three goals in 16 appearances, but it is a far cry from the numbers he managed last campaign.
