Di Maria To Join United Tour

Di Maria To Join United Tour

Angel di Maria is expected to join up with his Manchester United team-mates on their tour of the USA today, despite speculation about a move to PSG.

Di Maria has previously spoken about his intent to stay at United, but the latest transfer rumours have rapidly developed, and it now seems as if the Argentine could make a move to the French capital.

Reports in both France and England have suggested that the Ligue 1 champions are ready to announce Di Maria’s signing as early as next weekend, with a fee believed to be in the region of £45 million, a big loss on the amount United paid last season. Manchester United paid a fee of £59.7 million for the Argentine international last summer, and after a blistering start for the Red Devils, his form slowly declined.

The 27-year-old has spoken about his plans to re-invent himself at Old Trafford, but the constant reports linking him with a move to Paris has dampened those comments.

However, United boss Louis van Gaal has confirmed that he will return with the squad today, and that his absence came due to his international duty with Argentina in the Copa America.

“I expect him tomorrow,” said Van Gaal in San Jose on Friday.

“We have communicated on that. Di Maria, Marcos Rojo and Javier Hernandez have responded.”

United face Spanish champions Barcelona on Saturday, but Di Maria won’t be able to play a part.

The United manager also confirmed goalkeeper David De Gea would play against the treble winning side after missing the first two tour games through injury, but new signing Bastian Schweinsteiger will not.
