Di Maria ‘Happy to join PSG’

Angel Di Maria has completed his move to PSG from Manchester United just 1 year after the Red Devils club paid a British record £59.7m for him.

The 27-year-old had a medical in Qatar on Tuesday ahead of his move. The Argentine decided to confirm his arrival by posting a picture with himself and one of the PSG owners, a move that outraged United. This led to the club demanding an extra £3m for the player – boosting the fee from £44.3m to around £47m.

However, Di Maria told beIN Sports:

“I am very happy to join Paris St-Germain. They’re very important.”

“They made it to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, so my objective was to arrive to Paris and to help them through the quarter-final barrier, because they have struggled in the past two seasons.”

“I will try to do the best I can to help the club in those objectives and reach the final stages of the Champions League.”

Neither side has confirmed the move yet, but it seems to be all but done judging by Di Maria’s quotes and United’s interest in Barcelona forward Pedro.

Di Maria will leave United a disgraced man after choosing not join the squad on their pre-season tour of America with total intent to force a move away from the club.

With just 4 goals in 32 United appearances, the attacker will almost certainly go down as one of the biggest flops of all time at Manchester United. Regardless, it is hugely important to get rid of a ‘bad egg’ for the stability of the team, no matter what the cost.

Goodbye Angel, best of luck in Paris.
