It’s fair to say that things haven’t quite worked out for Fred in a Manchester United shirt so far.
Since arriving for £47m from Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer, the 25-year-old has made just seven starts, scoring one goal in the 1-1 draw against Wolves back in September.
With United facing Young Boys in the Champions League tonight, some United supporters on Twitter are calling on manager Jose Mourinho to recall the Brazilian to the starting line up:
Definitely… Deserves the chance at the very least!

Defo he has to be better than immobile matic

He’s made for these European nights, he’s very comfortable on the ball and the pace of the game suits him better

Don't understand the calls of him underperforming either. Very good against Bournemouth and Wolves I thought, and would only improve & further adapt with a run of games. Player management has been a total joke this season.

Fred and Bailly need to play. Two guys who've not done much wrong – aside from Fred diving, that was a facepalm – and are somehow being cold-shouldered

Mou has the final say

Seems like we signed him for Fellaini or matic backup. I dont know how many times we are gonna say comeback in one season. Cant we have series of wins ffs ? #MUFC

He should start!

With the lack of dynamism in United’s midfield, a changeup in approach could well be needed when they face the Swiss champions at Old Trafford.
A win would seal a place in the last 16 if Valencia fail to beat Juventus in the other match in Group H. To get the three points, though, they will need to show more guile and craft than they managed in the 0-0 draw versus Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Will Fred get his recall after three matches on the substitutes bench? We shall have to wait and see.
