Depay’s Arrival To Trigger First Major Departure

Memphis Depay’s imminent arrival may well make things worse for Angel Di Maria who was already having trouble finding his place on the pitch. The Argentinian who was supposed to be the next big thing at Old Trafford has disappeared over the few months and for obvious reasons, was dropped by LVG who has kept Real Madrid’s former player on the bench most of the time. According to Metro, there is some good news coming his way as Bayern Munich are ready to sit down and talk. Even though it is very unlikely to see Manchester recover all the money spent on Di Maria, there is still a chance they might get a big part of their investment back.

When Di Maria Came to Old Trafford he cost the team just short of £60million. Even with his 10 assists and three goals, he is dangerously close to becoming the next Fernando Torres. That is probably why negotiations with Bayern will not take that long. The 27 year old already has the OK from the club which on several occasions admitted to be willing to sell the winger if he decides it is time to leave.

It is unfortunate that Di Maria did not adapt to the Premier League. He is a great player who is best suited for a less physical Championship similar to that in Spain. The Argentinian looks somewhat unhappy and it would be a pity to see him go down the same path as Nani or Anderson who did not realy enjoy their time in the Premier League particularly Anderson. A move to Bayern could benefit all three parties involved and could add some serious money to Manchester’s transfer budget.
