De Gea’s Contract Negotiations Take A New Twist As European Giants Look To Outmuscle United

Manchester United may give in to David De Gea’s contract demands after Paris Saint-Germain emerged as a major contender to sign the keeper, according to the Independent.

The Spaniard wants to be the best-paid player at the club, but so far, the Red Devils have not been prepared to agree to his terms.

However, PSG’s willingness to match De Gea’s wage demands may force the United hierarchy into giving the 28-year-old what he wants, which is reportedly northwards of £350,000 a week.

The goalkeeper is believed to be keen to stay at Old Trafford but contract negotiations have been long and drawn out.

De Gea’s current deal expires in just over 12 months time and, with the possibility of the Spanish international leaving for nothing in 2020, combined with the interest from PSG, it may focus minds in order to get a new deal done.

A number of players including Ashley Young, Anthony Martial and Phil Jones have signed new contracts since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival, and the club are hoping the likes of De Gea and Marcus Rashford will follow suit soon.
