Danish U21 Starlet Responds To Transfer Reports Following United Interest

Sampdoria centre-back Joachim Andersen has left the door open to a summer move away from the Serie A club.

Reports have linked the Denmark Under 21 international with a move to Manchester United, as well as Arsenal and Tottenham in recent months.

Speaking about his future, Andersen says he is happy with the game time he is getting at Sampdoria but would not turn down the chance of making the step up at a bigger club:

“I really just concentrate on being here, and then we have to see what happens this summer. Because right now nothing has to happen. It’s too early.”

“It is important that a club has the right plan with me. I need a view of playing time. I also don’t mind being a season more in Sampdoria. It’s hard to say [which is my favourite league]. England, Spain or Italy.”

“But it comes mostly to the club, which must have a good plan for me, and it must make sense in the long term. I have to take the right steps at the right times. So I don’t really care if it’s Tottenham, Inter or Atletico Madrid.”

The 22-year-old has featured regularly for the Blucerchiati this campaign after being a bit-part player during his first season at the Italian club, following his move from FC Twente.

Andersen’s name was being widely linked with a number of top European clubs late last year after Sampdoria started the season with an excellent defensive record.

However, in recent months, Marco Giampaolo’s side have begun to leak more goals, having now conceded 29 in 22 league matches this campaign.
