Daniel James hailed by former United star

Manchester United winger Daniel James has been heavily praised by fans and pundits alike since his debut goal against Chelsea last week.

The Welshman came on as a substitute against the Blues, scoring just minutes later.

It was the stuff of dreams for the 21-year-old, who raised eyebrows when he made his £15m move to Old Trafford in the summer. Nevertheless, James has impressed so far at the club, and many are tipping him for great things.

Few more than former United star Owen Hargreaves, who praised the youngster for his debut heroics and branded his pace as ‘scary’.

“What a moment for the young man,” Hargreaves told Premier League Productions.

“Signing for Man United, everything that’s happened within his family, you could see what it meant to him with his celebration.

“Obviously he was very emotional, but that’s a massive moment for him.

“Off the bench his pace is scary.”

The former England midfielder was also full of praise for United’s other two debutants, who helped secure a much needed clean sheet.

“The two best players were [Harry] Maguire and [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka,” he continued.

“Clean sheet, they didn’t have many of those last season.

“So I think for the fans that’s as good a start as you could have hoped for.

“I think going into the game, even Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would have been slightly worried about what place is Man United going to finish.

“That gets them off to a brilliant start.”
