CONFIRMED: Premier League And FA Agree To Radical New Brexit Transfer Rules For Signing EU Players

The UK government has approved the Governing Body Endorsement (GBE) proposal that has been agreed to by the Premier League, the EFL and the FA over new transfer rules post Brexit.

As of January 1st 2021, the UK will have left the European Union and new rules regarding the signing of EU players will be put in place, which will impact Manchester United and every other team in the country.

A points-based system will be used. Points will be determined by the number of international caps at senior and youth level, the league they play in and the reputation of the selling club.

To qualify, each player must obtain 15 points, which can be reached easily if the player plays international football for one of the top 50 countries in FIFA’s rankings, or is already playing in one of Europe’s top five leagues.

No player under the age of 18 can be signed from an overseas club, while every team will be limited to signing six Under 21 players per season, with a limit of three for the upcoming January transfer window.
