Club Sources Reveal Whether United Are Closing In On Shock Swoop For Arsenal Ace

Manchester United have denied reports linking them with a move for Arsenal full-back Ainsley Maitland-Niles. The claim, which originated in Germany, suggested that the Red Devils were closing in on a deal to sign the 23-year-old.

However, sources at the club told the Manchester Evening News this morning that there isn’t any truth to the rumour. United are currently focused on making two signings before the transfer window closes.

Porto’s Alex Telles is thought to be the club’s priority at the moment, but a transfer fee has yet to be agreed between the two clubs. Were the Brazilian to be signed, though, there wouldn’t be any need to sign someone like Maitland-Niles.

The other transfer currently being worked on is, of course, Jadon Sancho. Reports suggesting that a €100m (£91m) was made by United is believed to be wide of the mark but the Manchester club remain interested in signing the England international.
