Club ‘Ruled Out’ Of Battle For Frenkie De Jong Leaving United Target With ‘Only Two Possibilities’

Bayern Munich have been “ruled out” from making a bid for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, according to Sport.

The Catalan publication cite Bild journalist Tobi Altschaffl as their source, stating that the Bundesliga champions “cannot afford” the Dutchman after recruiting Matthijs de Ligt.

It’s now claimed that de Jong has been left with “only two possibilities”, agreeing a move to Manchester United or signing for Chelsea instead.

The Blues’ interest in the Barcelona star has been widely reported in Spain, but the chances of the London club making a formal bid have been played down by reliable sources.

With regards to United’s prospects of recruiting de Jong, though, things are still rather uncertain. There have been contrasting claims about the 25-year-old’s interest in moving to Old Trafford

Some believe he will join United if his pay dispute with Barca is resolved, while others feel that he has no intention of making the switch.
