Chelsea to make summer swoop for out-of-favour United forward

Chelsea will move for Manchester United’s Anthony Martial this summer if Eden Hazard leaves the Blues for Real Madrid, according to reports.

Martial has fallen out of favour with United boss Jose Mourinho since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez in January, being limited to only three Premier League starts since the Chilean joined the club from Arsenal.

The Frenchman, who has hit 12 goals for the Red Devils this season, is rated at around £44 million by United, and despite Jose Mourinho’s desire to keep him at Old Trafford, he could be allowed to leave should the right offer come in.

Juventus and Tottenham are also thought to be keeping an eye on the situation, however Chelsea may have the advantage in the race for the Frenchman given they will have money to spend from the potential sale of Hazard.

Hazard has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, with the Champions League finalists reportedly ready to offer a world record fee to bring him to the Bernbeu.

The Belgium international has been Chelsea’s star player this season, scoring 16 goals and laying on seven assists for his team-mates – however is thought to be frustrated with the Blue’s failure to challenge for the Premier League title.

Antonio Conte’s are set to miss out on Champions League football for the second time in three seasons, and Hazard could leave for Madrid in order to challenge for Europe’s elite trophy.
