Chelsea Star’s ‘Desire Is To Leave For Old Trafford’ But Deal Remains Difficult To Complete

Chelsea forward Timo Werner’s “desire is to leave for Old Trafford” according to El Nacional. The Catalan rumour mongers claim that Manchester United are the “big favourite” to snap up the German ahead of Barcelona.

The main reason for that is interim head coach Ralf Rangnick. The 63-year-old signed the striker when he was at RB Leipzig and he has been a key mentor throughout the player’s career.

However, while Werner may have his heart set on a move to Manchester, the prospects of it happening still remain pretty low. Manager Thomas Tuchel is said to be prepared to let him leave Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is reportedly not keen on him joining United.

El Nacional claim Abramovich is reluctant to strengthen a Premier League rival and would prefer that the 25-year-old made the switch to Barca instead.

With Werner and his club at odds over his future, it does suggest that a switch to United is not currently a realistic possibility.
