Chelsea Have ‘Held Discussions’ With Agents As They Look To Trump United For South American Wonderkid

Chelsea have “held discussions” with the agents representing Independiente de Valle midfielder Moises Caicedo as they look to beat Manchester United to his signature, according to the Daily Mail.

Reports in Ecuador had suggested that the Red Devils were closing in on a £4.5m deal to sign the 19-year-old but it is thought talks are not as advanced as some have claimed.

It is believed that Chelsea have also been scouting Caicedo for a long time, along with Newcastle and Brighton, and it is not a forgone conclusion that the Ecuadorian international will move to Old Trafford.

Reliable journalist Fabrizo Romano reported yesterday that there were still two major issues which meant Caicedo’s move to United had not been finalised so it does appear that the Manchester club could still be beaten to the signing of the teenager if they don’t move fast.

Whether interest from other Premier League clubs will trigger a reaction from the Red Devils, we shall have to wait and see.
