Carragher Assesses United’s Title Chances As He Names The Two Clubs Who Are Favourites For The Title

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher says that Manchester United are “in the mix” to win the Premier League this season.

Despite the Red Devils topping the table, though, the ex-England defender still thinks Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are outsiders, with his former club Liverpool and Manchester City remaining favourites to lift the title:

“One week you feel United are out of it, then two weeks later they are top. Spurs were up there for a time. Chelsea have had moments when they looked threatening. For me, it will still be between City and Liverpool at the end of the season, but Man Utd have certainly put themselves in the mix.”

The win over Fulham last night would have given United fans even more belief that a genuine title challenge is on the cards. It was the seventh time this season they have come from behind to win a game.

After the match, Solskjaer expressed his belief that the squad has improved their mentality but he also emphasised there is a long way to go.

Manchester City briefly went top after their win against Aston Villa yesterday evening and they still have a game in hand over United. Liverpool meanwhile face Burnley tonight as they look to close the gap at the top to three points.
