Blind Wants Zlatan Return

Zlatan Ibrahimovic took the Premier League by storm last season when he arrived at Manchester United on a free transfer. The Swede signed a one-year deal at the club, but this was not renewed due to him picking up an injury towards the end of the season that could keep the forward out of action until 2018.

United defender Daley Blind watched Zlatan score 28 goals for the club last season, and has recently expressed his desire for the Reds to re-sign the 35-year-old when he makes his comeback from injury.

Various reports claim that Ibrahimovic is training with United in order to regain fitness. There is also plenty of speculation that the striker could sign a new deal with the club in the coming months.

Daley Blind knows what a difference Zlatan made at Old Trafford last season, and says he would love to play alongside the striker again.

“No doubt he would again be another big signing and last year he gave a big boost for the team,” the Dutchman told NBC Sports.

“He is still a great player and great person and he makes everything better.”

United have already signed Romelu Lukaku to replace Ibrahimovic, but that doesn’t close the door for the veteran to return at some point in order to bolster the club’s attacking options.

Jose Mourinho recently confirmed there was a chance the 35-year-old could return, saying: “It is possible. He was not happy in the way he finished season.”

“We want him to be honest and open and let everything be there for him to make a decision in case his desire was to leave, so there was not a new contract. We opened our door for him to recover with us and then to make a decision.”

“If that decision is for him to stay and for us to wait, let’s say, until December, because I don’t think before December he can be back playing competitive football, then why not?”
