Frenkie de Jong’s agents have told Barcelona that the player has “no intention” of leaving the Camp Nou, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Manchester United had reportedly agreed an €85m (£72m) fee for the Dutch international but Romano believes that the transfer is at risk of collapsing:
Frenkie De Jong’s agents Ali Dursun and Hasan Cetinkaya have informed Barcelona that Frenkie has still no intention to leave – also that Frenkie and agents are not accepting any salary reduction, or talks related to that. 🇳🇱 #FCB
Man United are also informed – deal now stalling. pic.twitter.com/aFpLTSXHfQ

Unsurprisingly, supporters on Twitter are not happy with this latest development, with many feeling frustrated that United have spent so long trying to secure a deal for de Jong:
Biggest waste of time

There have been so many claims and counterclaims about the de Jong transfer that it can be hard to tell what is true and what is false.
The majority of journalists in the UK have said that de Jong would be interested in making a move to Old Trafford, while those on the continent have raised doubts about the Dutchman’s transfer stance.
While there have been a few rumours that Chelsea could complicate matters further by getting involved in the race for de Jong, it’s unlikely at the moment that United will see the deal hijacked, but there is also a strong possibility now that the move will fall through completely.
