One positive is that the fixture will be at home, which should help United to get a good result.
The opening rounds of fixture are generally pretty strange affairs as players are not at their best in terms of physical condition, while new signings are bedding in.
Chelsea will likely have the added complication of a new manager being in the dugout. Maurizio Sarri is expected to leave for Juventus with the inexperienced Frank Lampard his likely replacement.
United did get off to a good start last season with a win over Leicester City, but that proved to be a false dawn. Hopefully, a decent win this time around will be a good omen for the campaign.
