Manchester United have been in contact with Jamie Vardy about bringing the Leicester forward to Old Trafford this summer, according to reports in England.
Respected sources have already confirmed that the 35-year-old is on the club’s radar but it is now believed that the Red Devils have informed the striker that they would be prepared to offer him a one-year contract.
Considering Vardy’s current deal with Leicester also expires next year, it will be interesting to see what he decides to do. Fans on Twitter, though, are very much split on whether United should be pursuing the player:

If Jamie Vardy is the answer, I don’t want to even know what the question is. pic.twitter.com/6AdvszVUgi

Another short term fix to try and put a sticking plaster over a huge chasm.. The club doesn’t seem to have any long term plan at all.. 🤦♂️

If Cristiano Ronaldo does end up leaving Old Trafford, Vardy could be a decent stop-gap, but the fact that the club are in this position in the first place is down to shambolic planning from the recruitment team.
Even though both United and Chelsea have been keeping tabs on his situation for a while, recruiting a forward in their mid-30s isn’t a sign of a well-run team. The club should have targets lined up for every scenario and a move for Vardy would rightly be seen as another panic buy.
