Barca Star (With 43M Release Clause) Makes Decision On Future Amid United And Liverpool Interest

Barcelona midfielder Gavi has prioritised staying with the La Liga side, despite strong interest from Manchester United and Liverpool, according to El Nacional

The Catalan news outlet reports that both Premier League teams have been keeping tabs on the 17-year-old but the player is determined to succeed at the Camp Nou after making his first-team breakthrough this season.

Gavi currently has a €50m (£43m) release clause so United could make a move for the Spanish international, without Barcelona even getting involved.

However, the Catalan club are expected to be proactive in tying down the teenager to a new contract. His current deal expires in 2023 but Barca’s main aim will be to increase his buyout fee tenfold to €500m.

They have already agreed similar contracts with other youngsters, Nico Gonzalez and Alejandro Balde, and they now want Gavi to sign an extension in order to ensure he remains in Spain for the foreseeable future.
