‘At That Amount…’ Lazio Chief Issues Warning To United And Other PL Clubs Hoping To Sign Serbian Star For 42M

Lazio president Claudio Lotito has said he will be holding out for a big fee to sell Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer.

There had been reports that the Serie A club would be prepared to offload the Serbian international for €50m (£42m) before the transfer window shuts but Lotito has laughed off those suggestions:

“Milinkovic[-Savic] for €50 million? At that amount I won’t sell him, he’s worth much more.”

Manchester United are believed to be weighing up a move for Milinkovic-Savic, while the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle have also been mentioned as possible suitors in recent weeks.

Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag is looking for potential alternatives to Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, with the Dutchman’s move to Old Trafford looking increasingly unlikely.

Milinkovic-Savic’s name is reportedly high on the list of options being considered but the player’s asking price is expected to be closer to €70m (£59m). Whether that will put off United from making an offer for the 27-year-old, we shall have to wait and see.
