Argentinian Playmaker “Happy” To Be Linked With United Move As Scouts Watch Him In Action

DC United attacking midfielder Luciano Acosta has responded to reports that Manchester United have been keeping tabs on his performances.

The Red Devils reportedly had scouts in the stands watching the Argentine during his side’s 4-0 loss to Los Angeles FC on Saturday.

Acosta said he was happy to see a club of United’s stature monitoring his progress, but he was disappointed by his own performance and the manner of their defeat:

“I’m obviously happy (Manchester United) was here – they came to see me, and obviously I just went out and tried my best.”

“Today wasn’t my day, we were up against a great opponent and in reality, I’m just sad for the group’s performance today, and mine too.”

The 24-year-old started the season in superb style with a goal and an assist in the 2-0 win over Atlanta United on the opening day.

Since then, he hasn’t made an impression in front of goal, but his overall record since joining DC in 2016 has been pretty good.

Last campaign, Acosta scored 11 goals and provided 15 assists in 36 appearances. Of course, the standard of football in MLS is quite far below the Premier League so those numbers have to be put into context.
