Argentina legend says Lazio midfielder would be perfect fit at Manchester United

Former Chelsea and Inter Milan striker Hernan Crespo believes Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic would be a perfect fit for Manchester United.

The Serbia international has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, with United one of a number of clubs believed to be chasing his signature.

Chelsea and Arsenal are also understood to be interested in the 23-year-old midfielder, as are Juventus – with recent reports suggesting the Serie A champions have already agreed a deal with Lazio for Savic.

However the Serb’s future currently remains uncertain with him at the World Cup with Serbia, and Crespo believes the highly rated midfielder would be best taking the plunge and coming to England instead of remaining in Italy.

“Milinkovic-Savic is a great player,” he told Goal.

“He is a player that plays everywhere. He is very physical.

“If he went to the Premier League next season, he would be great. He plays very well as a physical midfielder and he gets into the box almost effortlessly.

“I think he is ready to play for any club in Europe. I don’t talk about money but he is very strong.”

Jose Mourinho reportedly wants Savic as a replacement for both Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini.

Carrick retired at the end of last term, and will take on a coaching role at Old Trafford, whilst Fellaini – who is currently with Roberto Martinez’s Belgium in Russia – is widely expected to move on from United after the World Cup.
