Manchester United are keeping tabs on Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.
The journalist claims that rivals Newcastle have cooled their interest in France international, but the Red Devils are still “monitoring” the forward, who could cost between €70m (£61m) and €80m (£69m):
News #Diaby: He‘s on the list of @NUFC but understand that it was not advanced in the last months. @ManUtd is monitoring his situation instead and confirmed. Next steps depend on the club‘s ownership. #MUFC

Diaby’s preference is to play off the right wing, cutting in onto his stronger left foot. With United having already spent £86m on Antony, who plays in the exact same position, fans on Twitter are nonplussed as to why the club would pursue a similar player:
Another winger?

No way we are paying that for a winger when we already have Rashford, Sancho, Antony, Garnacho, Amad, Pellistri.

The 23-year-old has had a good season, scoring 14 times and providing 11 assists in 47 appearances for Leverkusen but, spending £60m on a right winger when there are other areas of the team that need strengthening, doesn’t make a lot of sense.
Diaby could still end up in the Premier League this summer, though, even if United and Newcastle don’t make offers. Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in the Frenchman.
