Bayern Munich do expect to receive an offer from Manchester United for Thiago Alcantara, according to reports in the UK.
Liverpool were believed to be frontrunners for the Spanish international but it is thought that the 29-year-old’s €30m (£27m) asking price is proving to be expensive for them.
Fans on Twitter would love to see United make a move for Thiago but after losing out on Sergio Reguilon to Tottenham, there is a growing pessimism about the club doing any more transfer business before deadline day:
another reguilon case.

Although Thiago is a world-class footballer, there are question marks over where the Spaniard would fit into manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting eleven.
The Red Devils already have the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek to play in central areas and bringing in yet another player in the same area of the pitch would not make a lot of sense, unless there are others who are likely to leave Old Trafford.
