Another public pursuit from Man United has reportedly angered rival side

Manchester United’s transfer activity in the market this summer has been very public but their endeavours haven’t quite worked out just yet, as Swedish defender Victor Lindelof stands as the Red Devils only recruit thus far.

Jose Mourinho’s side have failed in their pursuit of Antoine Griezmann, as their prime target ended up signing a new deal at Atletico Madrid, whilst Real Madrid indicated yesterday they’ve had no approaches for Alvaro Morata- contrary to reports in England which suggested a deal is close.

The Red Devils are now just weeks away from beginning their extremely busy pre-season campaign, which involves a gruelling eight games in North America, and the current squad is lacking in key areas- particularly in attack. Manchester United continue to be linked with big strikers and quality wingers, despite their strength in depth out wide, and recent reports have linked the Red Devils with the services of Besiktas’ Brazilian winger Anderson Talisca.

However, much like Real Madrid’s comments yesterday, the Turkish side have stated they’ve had no approaches for their talented ace- with club official Metin Albayrak telling Turkish Football:

“Well every players dreams of playing in the Premier League or La Liga but Talisca has another year with us. We have to be informed of any transfers, it cannot go ahead without us at the table, we have not been informed of a Man United deal.”

Whilst that doesn’t put a stop to Manchester United’s transfer plans, their very public pursuit of players could lead them to find difficulties as selling clubs will be furious with the Red Devils tactics- and could demand a higher fee or refuse to do a deal altogether. It’s strange to see Manchester United continue with this tactic despite their embarrassment after missing out on a deal for Antoine Griezmann, as missing out on further deals could lead to real frustrations from the supporters.

Given the fact that Manchester United are yet to complete the business they need to do, the best course of action would be for Mourinho’s side to put their head down and get through the deals they need quietly- rather than creating a fanfare through the media and drawing a lot of attention to themselves.
