“Almost Done” Club President Reveals United Target’s Transfer Is Close To Being Finalised

Lille president Gerard Lopez says the sale of winger Nicolas Pepe is getting closer to completion.

Manchester United are said to be one of a number of teams that are after the 24-year-old but, despite revealing that the Ivorian could be sold soon, Lopez didn’t say which club he could be going to:

“For Nico, it is almost done and he could have left last summer. It is true that there are big offers and big clubs in for him, so I think [he will leave].”

As well as United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton, Napoli, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have all been mentioned as possible suitors for Pepe.

The wide man’s valuation is reportedly €80m (£72m), and that figure will likely rule out a number of teams from signing him.

Last season, Pepe was one of the standout performers in Ligue One, scoring 23 goals and providing 12 assists in 41 appearances.

With Lille being in the Champions League and the Red Devils in the Europa League, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will need to persuade him that a switch to United is the right career decision.
