Ajax agree deal for out-of-favour Manchester United defender

Manchester United have agreed to sell out-of-favour defender Daley Blind to Ajax.

Blind joined United in from Ajax for £13.8m in 2014, and enjoyed a fine first two seasons under then manager Louis Van Gaal.

However the Dutchman has struggled to establish himself as a regular at Old Trafford since Jose Mourinho took charge of the club two years ago, making just 24 starts in the Premier League, only four of which came last term.

Blind, 28, will now re-join Ajax on a four-year-deal in a deal believed to be worth £14 million – although that fee could rise to as high as £18.5 million with add-ons.

Blind is the third player to leave Old Trafford this summer, after Michael Carrick retired at the end of last season and goalkeeper Sam Johnstone was sold to relegated West Bromwich Albion for a fee off around £6.5 million.
