Agent Issues Top Four Warning To United As He Reacts To Claims That £51M Transfer Is Close To Being Finalised

The agent of Napoli defender Kim Min-Jae has said the centre-back is not on the verge of joining Manchester United.

Reports in the Italian media had suggested that the South Korean international had agreed personal terms with the Red Devils ahead of a €60m (£51m) move, but the player’s representatives dismissed those claims, suggesting any switch to Old Trafford would depend on them qualifying for the Champions League first:

“The transfer to Manchester United is not true. Currently, Kim Min-jae is focusing on finishing the season. In the case of the English Premier League, the qualification to the Champions League or the final standings have not been decided. There is no need to move.”

Kim is known to have other suitors in the Premier League, including rivals Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool but the rumours about United’s interest have been the strongest.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Manchester club are keeping tabs on the 26-year-old, but they have yet to make a formal approach to sign him.

Will United step up their plans to sign Kim?

As the player’s agent says, a top-four finish is probably needed to persuade the South Korean to make the switch to England.

In terms of getting an agreement with his club Napoli, that won’t be necessary. A €60m (£51m) release clause can be triggered between July 1st and July 15th.
