Agent confirms Man United have made an ‘important offer’ for huge signing

Manchester United are gearing themselves up for a wealth of activity on the transfer market and it seems huge moves are imminent, with a wealth of reports flooding the back pages which indicate major moves are on the way.

The Red Devils continue to be linked with moves to bolster their defensive line, having already confirmed an agreement has been reached to lure Swedish defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica, and now the club are prioritising additions for their attacking ranks.

Jose Mourinho’s side suffered a huge blow in the back-end of last season as Zlatan Ibrahimovic suffered a long-term injury, which led to the club announcing he would not be offered an extension and will be available once again this summer.

The Swedish striker netted 28 goals across all competitions for the Red Devils last season and will prove to be extremely difficult to replace, although it appears Manchester United have found their ideal man to fill the void in the side.

Quoted by Sky Sports, the agent of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata has revealed Manchester United have made an ‘important offer’ to land his client, whilst adding that an offer from Italian giants AC Milan was ‘unsatisfactory’.

“It’s a club with a lot charm, a very interesting option. I can say that there’s a very important offer and the decision now rests with Real. I cannot tell (if an agreement is close), we’ll see.”

“I can confirm there had been regular contact until a few days ago. Quite simply, Real Madrid considered the offer from the Rossoneri (AC Milan) unsatisfactory.”

A deal worth a reported £60m is being muted, which would be a huge sum for the Spaniard, but Manchester United are determined not to miss out having already endured frustrations with their unsuccessful approaches to land Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid.

The concern though is that Morata isn’t a like-for-like replacement for Ibrahimovic and may struggle to reach the sort of numbers the Red Devils require. However, the fact that he’s just 24 means he can be developed into a superstar at Old Trafford.

It remains to be seen where Jose Mourinho will focus his attention in the coming weeks as he seeks further additions, with the likes of Monaco’s Fabinho, Burnley’s Michael Keane and Torino’s Andrea Belotti amongst the wealth of players linked with a move to Old Trafford.

With Lindelof already secured though and a deal for Morata looking likely to go ahead, the Red Devils look set to have completed the most important pieces of business for their transfer window swiftly.
