Newcastle have joined Manchester United and Chelsea in holding talks with the representative of Red Bull Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko, according to the I newspaper.

All three teams have now had discussions with Elvis Basanovic, who is handling the Slovenian international’s affairs.

Salzburg are believed to be very reluctant to sell Sesko. They have earmarked the teenager as their replacement for Karim Adeyemi, who was sold to Borussia Dortmund earlier this summer.

The Austrian side were keen for him to stay for at least another year but that doesn’t mean they would rule out a sale if a club matches their asking price.

It is believed that Salzburg would want at least £45m, which is a sizeable fee considering Sesko has only made 39 appearances in top-flight football. However, United and other teams do fear missing out on signing the 19-year-old, who could cost a lot more in twelve months’ time.
