“A Real Name To Watch…” Reliable Journalist Tips Ghanaian Teenage Sensation For United Switch

Manchester United would be among the major contenders to sign Sporting Lisbon attacking midfielder Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, according to The Guardian‘s Ed Aarons.

The teenager only recently made the switch to Portugal from his native Ghana, but he was pursued by the likes of Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen before his transfer in April. When asked whether the 18-year-old would be a target for any Premier League clubs in the future, Aarons replied:

“I think Manchester United, eventually, in that Bruno Fernandes sort of role just behind the striker, scoring lots of goals. He had an amazing record in the Ghanaian league. He was playing men’s football very young and scored loads of goals in that number 10 position. He is a real name to watch.”

Issahaku has already made 13 appearances for Ghana’s senior team despite his young age, so he is definitely a player to keep an eye on, but he does lack experience.

Since moving to Sporting, he has yet to make a start, having been handed six substitute appearances by manager Ruben Amorim so far this campaign.

With a €60m (£52.6m) release clause, though, it’s clear that Issahaku is very highly rated and United will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on his progress.
