Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson says Manchester United have the “hardest set” of fixtures in the Premier League this week.

After drawing against Newcastle at the weekend, they face Tottenham on Wednesday night before a trip to play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this Saturday. Merson feels the fixture against Spurs is “a must-win game” to ensure they keep their top-four hopes on track. However, he doesn’t believe they will get the three points:

“Manchester United have the hardest set of games out of everybody this week. This is a must-win game for Manchester United, and I don’t think that is the case for Tottenham. Antonio Conte will want to make sure his team doesn’t lose this match, and he’ll be the happier of the two managers with a draw. Tottenham will make sure they don’t lose this match.”

Merson has gone with a 1-1 draw which is a reasonable prediction, considering Erik ten Hag’s side have not looked that convincing in their last two performances against Omonoia and the Magpies.

Tottenham are likely to sit back and play on the counter-attack and, with United currently struggling against teams who play with a low block, the signs don’t really point towards the home side picking up a victory. An early goal could, though, change the complexion of the game so the Red Devils will have to get off to a quick start in order to get the result they need.
