“A Disaster for Him and Manchester United” – Le Tissier Questions 30-Year-Old’s Future At The Club

TV pundit Matt Le Tissier believes Alexis Sanchez’s move to Manchester United has been nothing short of a disaster for both the player and the club.

The 30-year-old is reportedly on £505,000 a week, although that figure is disputed, and Le Tissier believes the salary has set a dangerous precedent.

With other players negotiating new contracts, such as David de Gea, it has inevitably led to some demanding parity with Sanchez, despite his poor performances:

“It hasn’t really worked out let’s be honest. It has been a disaster for him and Manchester United. [David] De Gea is playing well, so he could turn around and say that he is getting this amount of money and is nowhere near their best player.”

“Manchester United have dug a hole from that perspective. He has not really settled there. It’s going to be very difficult for him. He is 30 years of age now and has struggled so badly.”

Sanchez is now out for six weeks with a knee injury he sustained against Southampton last weekend. Since arriving from Arsenal, the Chilean has suffered from a catalogue of fitness problems.

It hasn’t gone much better for him on the pitch either, with just two goals and four assists in 23 appearances this season. He actually has a worse strike rate than during his first six months at the club.

At the back end of last campaign, he played 18 times for United, scoring three times and providing five assists.
