Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic is prepared to lower his wage demands in order to secure a move to Manchester United, according to the Sun.
The newspaper reports that the Croatian was demanding £300,000 a week in order to make the switch to Old Trafford, but his agent has been in contact with the Red Devils to inform them he would be prepared to accept £150,000 a week.
Mandzukic has been told that he can train with another club by Juventus ahead of a transfer in January. The 33-year-old has not played a single minute for the Bianconeri this season and is deemed surplus to requirements by manager Maurizio Sarri.
United are keen on strengthening their forward line but a bid for Mandzukic would be a surprise considering their reported policy of signing young talent rather than those over 30.
The Croatian international is likely seen as a short-term solution with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side having struggled with injuries so far this campaign.
