Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford scored for the second consecutive game for England in the 1-0 friendly win over Switzerland last night.
The 20-year-old played up top alongside Danny Welbeck at the King Power Stadium, while he also scored against Spain in the Nations League at the weekend.
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher thinks Rashford may have to leave Old Trafford in order to get more game time as a striker at club level:
“Does he have to leave United? I think so. Is he good enough to displace Lukaku? Is Rashford good enough to be Manchester United’s centre-forward for them trying to win the Premier League or the Champions League? He may not be.”
“It gets to the stage where you want to play every week. Will he be an England regular or be Manchester United’s real centre-forward where you know when the team is picked every week, that he is in it. Will it ever get to that stage?”
Fans on Twitter got into an intense debate about the former Liverpool defender’s remarks:
Agree with some of the points here but Rashford is not a complicated case at #mufc. He doesn't start because Lukaku is a better striker, Sanchez is a better left winger, he is awful on the right and has had two good games this yearhttps://t.co/kpYL8lPdcS

Rash isn’t good enough to lead the line at Utd and he’s not a winger so where will he play to see the best of him ?? It’s a big dilemma for Jose

He is still very young and will get playing time and he has good mentors in team with Lukaku and Sanchez

Does a player need game time to get better as in consistent games

It's nonsense. These pundits said similar after Rashford starred against Costa Rica before the World Cup then Southgate went on to barely use him and they stayed quiet. Like you say it's simple, Rashford needs to work on his game and perform consistently when on the pitch.

What's particularly disappointing are his misses. Lukaku can be frustrating no doubt but Rashford in a one-on-one with the keeper tends to fluff it more times than not. Particularly in big games. At least we won't have to watch too many games against Courtois.

How many full matches has he ever played? Does anyone know. Strikers which he is btw need games a run of actual full games!

Rashford started up front in the opening day win against Leicester City in the absence of Romelu Lukaku, but he has had to settle for a place on the bench for subsequent league games against Brighton, Spurs and Burnley.
The majority of his 126 games for United have come as a striker, but the forward has certainly had less game time through the middle since the arrival of Lukaku at the club.
