The Athletic‘s United correspondent Laurie Whitwell has revealed that the Red Devils are seriously “considering a move” for Leicester striker Jamie Vardy.
The 35-year-old is being looked at with manager Erik ten Hag aiming to strengthen his options up front before the transfer window closes in two weeks’ time:
Erik ten Hag spent Sunday sifting through rubble of #MUFC’s latest humbling.
Day off cancelled + each player ran the 13.8k difference between sides on Saturday. Even Cristiano Ronaldo, who cuts an isolated figure at Carrington.

Vardy was first linked with United (along with Chelsea) earlier this month, but it is the first time that a respected source has confirmed that the forward (who has scored 133 Premier League goals) is a genuine target.
Whitwell claims that Leicester would be “reluctant” to offload their talisman but his contract does expire at the end of the season and there has been no indication that he will put pen to paper on a renewal.
With it now being reported that ten Hag would be prepared to let Cristiano Ronaldo leave, it seems more than likely that United are lining up another veteran in Vardy as the Portuguese legend’s replacement.
