79 Cap International Tipped To Be United’s First Signing Of The January Transfer Window

Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer could make a surprise move to Manchester United when the transfer window reopens, according to reports in the German media.

The Swiss shot-stopper, who has 79 caps for his country, is being lined up as Erik ten Hag’s first January signing. He is out of contract at the end of the season and is likely to be available on the cheap.

Considering the Red Devils already have the likes of David De Gea, Martin Dubravka and Tom Heaton in the first-team squad, it suggests that one of the three will be leaving Old Trafford.

De Gea’s current deal also expires in the summer but it would be a surprise if Sommer has been brought in to replace him midway through the season.

It is much more likely that Dubravka will be recalled by Newcastle after seeing very little game time during the first six months of his loan spell at the Manchester club.
