70M Rated South American Has ‘Set His Sights’ On PL Move With United ‘Monitoring Developments’

Benfica forward Darwin Nunez has “set his sights” on a move to the Premier League this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

The English tabloid reports that Manchester United are among the teams “monitoring developments” now it has become clear that the Uruguayan is keen on making the switch to the UK.

Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid have been credited with an interest in Nunez but is seems that United (along with Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle and West Ham) will be at the front of the queue.

There are claims in Portugal that Benfica will hold out for a fee in excess of €100m (£85.5m) for the 22-year-old but the Mirror believe they could agree to sell the striker for around £70m.

Without Champions League football, it may be difficult to persuade Nunez into making the move to Old Trafford, but United have shown in the past (with the club-record deal for Paul Pogba) that they can secure blockbuster transfers on their reputation alone.
