5 Strikers That United Could Sign On Loan After Rashford’s Injury

With Marcus Rashford expected to be out for up to three months with a back injury, Manchester United are now reportedly considering signing a striker on loan until the end of the season.

As it is January, finding a forward that is available and is good enough to play for the Red Devils will be a challenge for the club’s scouts.

They will need to be able to come in and make an impact straight away, replacing some of the goals that Rashford would have provided the team.

Press the “next page” as we identify five strikers United could sign on loan this month.

Luka Jovic

The Serbian international has struggled since signing for Real Madrid in the summer, and there have been reports that the Spanish club will consider sending him out on loan.

Manager Zinedine Zidane has only started him in four league games this season, and a move to Old Trafford could give him the game time he needs to rediscover his form.

Krzysztof Piatek

AC Milan are reportedly considering offloading the Polish international this month just a year after signing him from Genoa for €35m.

Piatek has struggled for form this season, scoring just five goals, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s arrival at the San Siro means he will inevitably have to settle for a place on the bench.

Paco Alcacer

The Spaniard had an excellent first season on loan at Borussia Dortmund but he has found goals harder to come by after moving to Germany on a permanent basis in the summer.

Alcacer’s place in the squad is now under considerable threat from Erling Haaland and he could well be available during the January transfer window.

Kevin Gameiro

A natural goalscorer, the veteran Frenchman has had to settle for a place on the bench at Valencia in recent weeks, with Maxi Gomez being preferred ahead of him.

At 32, Gameiro is not getting any younger, but he would be a decent short term solution to Rashford’s injury.

Fernando Llorente

Napoli have reportedly made the Spaniard available for transfer after just six months in Italy. The former Swansea and Tottenham forward is now 34 but he would present manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a different option from the bench.

Considering United were said to be after Mario Mandzukic before the Croatian’s move to Qatar, Llorente would certainly be an alternative in a similar mould.
