37 Cap International Defender Makes Transfer Admission After Being Linked With 36M United Move

Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries has admitted that he was flattered by the interest shown in him during the summer transfer window.

Both Manchester United and Chelsea were mentioned as possible suitors for the Dutchman, who has been capped 37 times by his country.

However, while Dumfries says it was nice to be linked with other teams, he is completely focused on performing well for his current club Inter:

“The interest flatters me, of course. But my focus now is only on Inter. We want to win the Scudetto because we lost it last season. Even today, the feeling of having lost the last championship burns strongly.”

United are likely to be in the market for a right-back in January. Aaron Wan-Bissaka is not believed to be in Erik ten Hag’s first-team plans and, if he is permitted to leave, a replacement will surely be brought in.

It has been suggested that Inter would probably sell Dumfries for around €40m (£36m). Although he has been a regular starter for Simone Inzaghi’s side, there are reportedly financial pressures on the club that mean players will be sold if their asking price is met.
