‘£150m Or Hang Up The Phone’ ‘Just Give United The Money’ Fans React To Romano’s Claim About Juve’s Bid To Sign United Star

The Guardian reporter Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Juventus were all set to begin talks over re-signing Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba before the global health crisis.

The reliable Italian journalist said that with the economic downturn, it would have made little sense for the Red Devils to offload the midfielder to Juve:

“Juventus have made Pogba their top target for next summer. Like Cristiano Ronaldo and Matthijs de Light, Juve want to target a top player every year. Pogba would be happy to go back to Italy.”

“Why would United let Paul Pogba leave in this moment, with a lower price than €100m? It’s impossible. Manchester United say ‘Okay, you want Pogba? You have to pay for Pogba’.”

“United haven’t received any bids from Juventus for Pogba. If coronavirus wasn’t in the way, Juve were going to start talks with Manchester United.”

Fans on Twitter have been calling on United to hold out for the highest possible fee if the Serie A giants do try to make an official bid:

It’s likely that any significant transfer will be delayed by a year as clubs look to reorganise in light of the current global situation.

Pogba has a contract until 2021, with an option for a further season, so United will be under no pressure to sell this summer anyway even if the Frenchman was angling for a move away from Old Trafford.

In any case, he is likely to be focused on returning to fitness, having missed most of the campaign with a troublesome ankle injury.
