Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard scored twice and provided an assist in England’s 4-0 win over Andorra at the weekend.

The 28-year-old has only played four minutes for the Red Devils so far this season, and fans on Twitter hope that the player’s exploits for his country will persuade manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to play him more often:

Lingard’s decision to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place, rather than leave for West Ham, was a surprise, and it remains to be seen whether it was a correct one considering his lack of match action.

The problem for Solskjaer is that he has too many options in Lingard’s best position. Bruno Fernandes, Donny van de Beek and Paul Pogba can all play in behind the forward line and all appear to be above the England international in the pecking order.

If Lingard continues to impress with his performances, though, it may force Solskjaer’s hand into playing him more regularly.
