Why Man United Should Not Let Michael Carrick Leave

Arsenal will always have great teams but as this season has shown, the lack of leadership in their squad has ensured the Gunners haven’t been able to win anything aside the FA Cup since the days of the invincibles. With some calling for Louis Van Gaal or whoever replaces the Dutchman this summer to get rid of both Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick, Manchester United could be in danger of suffering the same fate.

Many pundits and football fans alike agree letting the trio of Patrice Evra, Nemanja Vidić and Rio Ferdinand go in the same transfer window was a massive mistake by the Red Devils. The same thing happened with Chelsea, they got rid of Drogba ( who actually came back to help the team after initially leaving ), Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard in the same summer and ever since, they have not been the same. Yes, the Blues won the Premier league in one of the two seasons since the aforementioned legends left the club but everyone agreed Chelsea’s recent Premier league win was as a result of others not really delivering.

Reported suggesting that incoming Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho or Louis Van Gaal if retained should not make the mistake of getting rid of Michael Carrick. Letting Carrick go at the end of his contract which finishes in the summer would be a mistake as he has been a solid performer when selected.

The Red devils need the experience of both Rooney and Carrick next season regardless of whether United bring in other players in the roles both England international play. Neither of them should be released or sold. Carrick still looks to have what it takes to play Premier League football and Rooney looks like he is fit again and hopefully will have a good Euro 2016 and come into next season in top form.
