Who Will Replace RVP?

Manchester United is shaping up to be a really promising group especially now that Schweinsteiger and Scheiderlin have joined the lot. They have most of the key positions filled and are also continuing to be one of the most active clubs on the market. If De Gea does not leave, Van Gaal’s biggest problem will be finding a proper striker. Even if Van Persie was not on top of his game he still remained one of the deadliest attackers in the world. His experience and instinct came in very useful and selling him to Fener has left a huge gap up front. Rooney has changed his style over the years and he is no longer just the man scoring the goals as he is now also the man behind creating the chances. With that in mind, Van Gaal will surely not leave the task of scoring only to 19 year old James Wilson or to Chicharito who happens to be injured and also has one foot out the door.

According to TeamTalk, a solution could come from Villa where Benteke has managed an impressive run. He is now at a scoring rate of 1 goal every two matches which is not bad for the 24 year old. He is rumored to be on the top of the transfer list for Manchester United who could end up paying up to the £32million release clause Aston Villa have placed on the Belgium international.

Is Benteke the best fit for United though? With players like Benzema, Lacazette or Cavani also rumored to want to leave, the 24 year old looks more like the substitute striker LVG would like to have. United will need a clinical number 9 who can keep up with Aguero and Costa who always find a way to be on top of the rankings. Benteke does not look like the guy to become a 20+ goal scoring machine and seemingly LVG might agree as he is rumored to be very interested in Edinson Cavani with Angel Di Maria supposedly going to PSG as part of the deal.
